The Dream Globe Brooch transforms the familiar silhouette of a traditional world globe into a playful piece of handmade jewellery. Combining vibrant colour contrasts, clean geometric details and retro-inspired design, this miniature globe becomes a distinctive fashion accessory that celebrates curiosity, imagination and the excitement of exploring new places.
Inspired by the Dreams collection by Petit Boutique, Dream Globe Brooch was designed and handcrafted by Funk Da Queen as part of the Petit Boutique x Funk Da Queen collaboration. The imaginative spirit of the collection is expressed through the symbolism of the globe, an object traditionally associated with travel, exploration and discovering the world beyond our everyday surroundings. Funk Da Queen reinterprets this familiar object through unexpected colours and reflective materials, giving it a contemporary pop identity.
The design features a miniature desktop globe crafted from carefully layered plexiglass. A transparent pink circular surface provides the background for bright red geographical shapes, while fine grid lines reference the meridians and parallels of the Earth. A gold mirror plexiglass frame curves around the globe, recreating the recognisable structure of a traditional globe stand.
At the bottom, a small pink base completes the silhouette, adding another playful detail to the composition. The contrast between vivid red, transparent pink and reflective gold creates a striking combination that balances nostalgic design references with a contemporary pop aesthetic. The layered construction adds depth, while the different plexiglass finishes interact with light to highlight the miniature geographical details.
Each Dream Globe Brooch is individually handcrafted in the Funk Da Queen studio, where the plexiglass components are precisely cut, carefully layered and assembled by hand. Special attention is given to the positioning of the geographical elements, the curved gold frame and tit to the lapel of an oversized black blazer and pair it with a white T-shirt, straight-leg jeans and loafers for a contemporary casual look with an artistic twist. The gold mirror frame contrasts beautifully against darker fabrics, while the pink and red globe details introduce a bold splash of colour.
