Globe and Plane – Handmade Asymmetric Plexiglass Globe & Airplane Earrings

A miniature airplane ready for takeoff, a colourful world globe and an entire world of destinations waiting to be discovered. The Globe and Plane earrings transform two iconic travel symbols into a playful pair of handmade asymmetric earrings. Combining contrasting silhouettes, vibrant colours and reflective details, the design celebrates the beauty of wearing two different motifs that tell one connected story.

Inspired by the Dreams collection by Petit Boutique, Globe and Plane was designed and handcrafted by Funk Da Queen as part of the Petit Boutique x Funk Da Queen collaboration. The imaginative spirit of the collection takes on a travel-inspired character, where the globe represents the world waiting to be explored and the airplane symbolises movement, adventure and the excitement of discovering new destinations. Petit Boutique’s playful creative identity meets Funk Da Queen’s bold use of colour and layered plexiglass construction.

The first earring features a miniature desktop world globe crafted from carefully layered plexiglass. A transparent pink circular surface forms the background for bright red continent shapes, while fine geographical lines recreate the meridians and parallels of the Earth. A reflective gold mirror frame curves around the globe and leads to a small decorative stand, creating the instantly recognisable silhouette of a vintage world globe. The combination of pink, red and gold gives the design a vibrant retro-pop personality.

The second earring features a miniature airplane positioned diagonally, as though captured in the middle of takeoff. Gold mirror plexiglass forms the main silhouette, while pink and red details highlight the wings and decorative sections of the aircraft. Small sparkling decorative stones introduce points of light, giving the miniature airplane a playful, almost illustrated appearance.

The asymmetric composition is the defining feature of Globe and Plane. Although the two earrings feature completely different motifs, they are visually connected by their shared pink, red and gold palette. The circular geometry of the globe contrasts with the angular silhouette of the airplane, creating an interesting balance between curved and dynamic shapes.

Every pair is carefully handcrafted in the Funk Da Queen studio, where individual plexiglass components are precisely cut, layered and assembled by hand. Special attention is given to the small geographical details of the globe, the angular construction of the airplane and the placement of the reflective elements. The result brings together precise craftsmanship and expressive contemporary design.
